Jerry Wunsch Named Impact Player of the Year
The Wunsch Family Foundation is proud to announce the recognition of Jerry Wunsch, the Foundation's founder and President, as Impact Player of the Year by the Board of Directors of NFL Charities. This honor designates the Wunsch Family Foundation as an exemplary NFL Player Foundation due to its efforts to make a sustainable difference in the communities it serves.
The Wunsch Family Foundation is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization located in Tampa, Florida. It provides children with cancer and chronic blood disorders emotional, motivational, and memorable experiences through supportive and empowering opportunities.
Along with this title, NFL Charities has awarded the Foundation a grant in the amount of $40,000. The grant will specifically be used to fund the Circle of Friends Summer Reunion in 2008. The trip, taking place in St. Petersburg, Florida, will allow children that attended the previous two Winter Week trips the opportunity to renew old bonds and create new friendships.
This year, the NFL Charities grant was only received by six players for excellence in three areas in relation to their respective foundations: Programming, Growth and Improvement, and Presentation. The Wunsch Family Foundation feels it is quite an honor to be given this recognition and accept the grant.
